The German Christmas Market

Old Tavern Cheese & Gifts

Old Tavern Cheese and Gifts is another of those long standing businesses here in Wisconsin that exemplify the flavor of our great state. Since 1926 they have been providing cheddar cheese spreads, (still their signature product) and have expanded to other items like meats, nuts and chocolates as well. They have many great gift ideas for the holiday season and they are a dynamite addition to the market.

Kleines Bayern Nuts

Ray and Carrie Stelzer

Roughly translated, their business name means "Little Bavaria" and it correlates well to what they bring to the German Market. Using an authentic Bavarian family recipe, Ray and Carrie roast almonds, pecans, cashews and more from their stately Bavarian themed trailer. Once you taste them you are hooked. It's a rich tradition and a fundamental staple of any authentic market. They are also great folks and fun to work with. We are thrilled to see them back this year and we know you will be too.

Old German Beer Hall

Hans Weissgerber III

Hans wears a lot of hats, but for our tale we shall speak of his talents in promotions and specifically marketing German Beers and events that cater to their consumption. If we want to be more specific yet, we should say that Hans is a Hofbrau specialist. It is the beer of choice at the German Christmas Market because Hans made us believers. Add this to his giant, authentic and imported German pretzels and hand made vats of Gluhwein (hot spiced or mulled wine) and a personality that is as hearty as the German people he caters to and you should understand why he is a staple with our event. Hans is so passionate about our event that he created a wooden facade for his beer tent that was modeled after the Hofbrauhaus Tent facade seen at Oktoberfest in Munich.
